Description
The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of Tropical Depression #7 located near 17.8N, 34.6W at 11 am LST. This is about 2666km (or about 1656 mi) to the east of Barbados.
THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR BARBADOS FOR THESE SYSTEMS.
Potential Impacts
On the current forecast track, this system is forecast to track northeast of Barbados into next week with no direct threat to Barbados. Although no direct impacts are expected for Barbados, the presence of this system in our region will extend the period of light wind speeds, uncomfortably warm days and heat stress for persons into next week.
What you should do
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further updates over the coming days.
Discussion
Environmental conditions are conducive for the slow development of this system over the coming days. As the system moves northeast, light winds will persist and allow for localized afternoon showers throughout the coming days.
