Description
Tropical Storm Lee was upgraded to a Hurricane yesterday and has rapidly strengthened into a category 2 hurricane this morning. It is forecast to become a major hurricane later today.
There are NO watches or warnings associated with this system for Barbados.
The Barbados Meteorological Services continue to monitor this system which is currently located near 16.4N 50.0W and moving west-northwestward at 15 mph. The minimum central pressure of Lee is 983 mb with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.
Guidance is consistently tracking the system well north of the Eastern Caribbean on Friday into Saturday. Therefore Barbados will NOT be directly impacted by Lee.
As Lee moves northwestward, wind speeds here in Barbados are forecast to decrease and result in very hot conditions today into Friday across the island. Additionally, some shower activity is likely across some eastern districts tomorrow afternoon.
