Effective

Expires
12:00:00 2022-09-15
Description
................THE TROPICAL WAVE HAS DEVELOPED INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION #7....................
The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of a tropical wave that has developed into Tropical Depression #7 at 11 AM today, Wednesday 14th September 2022. This system was located near 16.6N 49.6W or about 1140km (708 miles) east northeast of Barbados.
Current Situation: This system became better organized overnight with a more well-defined circulation as it tracks westward at 22 km/h (14mph). Maximum sustained winds are 55Km/h (35mph) with a minimum central pressure of 1009mb.
Intensity Forecast: Rapid development of this system is unlikely as it is affected by a dry mid-level environment and wind shear. However, the possibility for some slow development remains possible as it tracks westward over the next few days.
Track Forecast: Model guidance remains in agreement that this system will pass well north of Barbados as it approaches the Leeward islands sometime between Thursday night and Friday.
This system does not pose any direct threat to Barbados. However, its northward track will result in a reduction in wind speeds with possible localized showers across some districts.
Recommendations to the public:
With the system passing north of the island, conditions will remain warm and therefore the BMS continues to urge persons to;
-Follow guidance from the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security,
-Remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water,
-Keep cool by wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
