WEATHER INFORMATION STATEMENT #2 ON AREA OF INTEREST IN THE CENTRAL TROPICAL ATLANTIC
Effective
08:45:06 2021-09-17
Expires
11:30:00 2021-09-18
Description
***********************THIS STATEMENT IS NOT A WATCH OR WARNING***********************
The Barbados Meteorological Service is closely monitoring a tropical wave and an associated area of low pressure located near 45W south of 17N. This is about 1600 km (994 miles) east of Barbados at 11 AM.
Current Situation: Due to sourrounding dry air and the lack of a well defined center, the system remains poorly organized since yesterday. However, conditions are expected to become more favorable for slow development during the next few days as the system moves westward to west-northwestward.
Track and Intensity Forecast: Current model guidance indicates that the system will pass well north of Barbados sometime early next week. Therefore, this system does not pose any direct threat to the island.
Recommendations to the public: Continue to monitor updates issued by the BMS on this feature.
The next update will be at 11 AM, Saturday 18th September or sooner if conditions warrant.
