<headline>SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR BARBADOS FOR ABOVE NORMAL SWELL HEIGHTS</headline> <!-- String Title -->
<description>BMS sea surface drone east of Barbados has measured swells of 2.5 to 3.0 meters. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a small craft advisory. These conditions are currently peaking with some improvement expected tomorrow Saturday the 26th of October, 2024.

Hazard Info:-

**** Hazard Info ****
Possible Impacts
Small craft operators and beachgoers should be prepared for the possibility of large open water swells which can be hazardous to some vessels. Operation of smaller vessels can be difficult at times due to large swells.

What you Should do
- Marine users are encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further information on what to do.
- If you intend to go into the water, it is recommended that you use beaches with on-duty lifeguards.

Discussion
Another BMS sea surface drone just off the west coast of Barbados has been measuring surface currents of 3 to 4 km/h. Sea bathers and small craft operators should exercise caution as there may be relatively strong currents near the western and southern shorelines of the island. Sea conditions are forecast to be moderate to rough in open water with easterly swells ranging from 2.5 to 3 meters during this swell event.

General Information
A small-craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5 to 3.0 metres (8 to 10 feet) and/or reduced visibility (less than 10 km but greater than 5 km) are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.

This small advisory was issued at 06:15 on Friday 25th of October, 2024 will be updated at 12:00 pm on Friday 25th of October 2024.
