<headline>WEATHER INFORMATION STATEMENT # 4 FOR BARBADOS ON THE TROPICAL WAVE OF INTEREST</headline> <!-- String Title -->
<description>The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) continues to closely monitor a tropical wave located in the Eastern Atlantic along 36W or 1600 miles/2600 km from Barbados, at 5 pm, today 27th June, 2024.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR BARBADOS.

However, by Saturday, a tropical storm watch as well as marine advisories may be issued.

Potential Impacts
The tropical wave is likely to develop into a tropical storm over the next few days and is expected to affect Barbados late Sunday night into Monday 1st July 2024. As a result, there is a possibility of flash flooding and storm-force winds impacting the island during that time. Additionally, sea conditions may become hazardous from as early as Sunday and a Small Craft Warning and High Surf warning may be issued for Barbados during the weekend.

What you should do
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further updates over the coming days.

Discussion
The tropical wave and associated area of low-pressure currently remains poorly organized due to periodic entrainment of dry air. The wave is expected to move westward at 15 to 20 mph over the next few days. Numerical weather models continue to track the center of the system just south of Barbados early on Monday 1st July, 2024.
Due to the size of the system, there is some uncertainty in the forecast intensity. However, environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for some slow developement and a tropical depression or tropical storm could form to the east of Barbados sometime during the weekend.
